Upcoming Events:

Our official weigh-in will take place, Thursday, August 26thIf your child is working hard to maintain a specific weight, fruits, veggies,  lean meats, and exercise are the answer.  Have him or her drink plenty of fluid and rest, No refined sugar or carbohydrates and by all means... NO  SALT!

A number of parents have been asking if we will run practices on Friday; the answer is that it is up to the individual coaches.  The players have been broken into preliminary teams.  Definitive team placement cannot be made until official weigh-in has occurred.  They will be advised of their schedule (practice and games), official team, and so on,  as soon as the information become available.

The Coaching Director, Dave Barber, wants you to be aware that the Heavyweight team practices every day of the week throughout the season, unless advised differently by the Coaching Staff.  The Lightweight coaches will advise their players as to their practice schedule.  The 5th and 6th grade Coach Representative, Dan Bouska, will advise parents of the practice schedule for Flyweight and Middleweight players.  Practice schedules will change shortly; and most teams will not practice on Tuesdays due to Religious Education schedules.

Our Parent/Team meetings will be held on the practice field, promptly after practice.  5th and 6th grade meetings will be on Monday, August 30th at 7:007th and 8th grade meetings will be on Tuesday, August 31st at 7:00.   Be prepared to receive information from the coaches and myself.  Think ahead:  we are in need of one or two team parents for each team; a picture coordinator parent for each team, concession stand volunteers and game day field work volunteers.  None of these roles are particularly time consuming; all are vital to the operation of our league.  Please help if you can!

We will be distributing practice jerseys and helmet decals at the meetings.  Once each team is designated a practice jersey color, it will be very helpful for your athlete to come to practice in that color jersey each day.  We do have SOME practice jerseys that we can swap with you if your recently purchased jersey is not your team's color.  Middle and Heavy Weights will wear white jerseys.  One of each Fly and Light weight teams will wear Blue and the other Gold.

The Board and Staff strongly encourage  each player to attend all GBS Varsity home games in their game jerseys.

Game Jerseys will be arriving within the next few weeks.

Watch your email for an exciting opportunity for the Jr. Titans to be introduced to the high school community by running onto the field with the Varsity players at an upcoming, Friday night home game.

GBS will play their first game of the season Friday, August 27, in Minooka.  If you are a die-hard football fan, you can follow the link below to get directions to the game.
